Fleabane from the garden

If you subscribe, you know I love gardening and often include pictures of my flowers in my monthly newsletter and Substack posts. But if you're new here, I'm a gothic romance writer who loves digging in the dirt (IYKYK: Zone 6). Gardening takes me away from the knotty problems of my plots and characters, and provides space to reflect and grow.

Many of my flower choices are native cultivars, and I admit my garden beds are rife with Black-Eyed Susans and Bee Balm, which don't suggest the haunting aesthetic of gothic romance. Still, I've tried to create spaces that invite daydreaming and lingering, using different textures and colors, and even leveraging shadowy spots.

Most of all, I'm interested in knowing the summer flowers that you like. If you're a gardener like me, or you enjoy visiting gardens, please share a photo of a bloom that catches your eye. A red rose? A purple dahlia? Whatever you like and wherever you catch a glimpse, please share!
